‘Everything you see in this world has a function to serve, son.’ My grandfather told me when he heard me talking behind some kids at school. ‘Let’s take a walk in the apple orchard again.’

His apple orchard was a sanctuary for me, where I could stay away from the hustle and bustle of life for a while, getting lessons from a man of great wisdom and experience.

‘You see these creatures?’ he started pointing to some worms at the foot of a tree. ‘They look disgusting, don’t they? They have no eyes and are so weak.’
‘Or the ants, the bees, and the rats you see here and there. And the birds, the weeds, and all these trees. Every creature in this world has a role to play in the cycle of life.’ There are reasons behind each creation, some of which man has managed to discover. There’s a lot more yet to come to light, though’ said my grandpa.

I already knew about the importance of the bees based on what my science teacher had told us at school. I could not think of any significant roles for the rats, worms, or weeds.

‘We tend to look down upon some creatures,’ he continued. ‘However, every creature deserves respect. Life will be disrupted without these bottom-living worms. Life would cease to exist in a couple of years if the bees vanished.’ It won’t take long before the
